Identifying medications and understanding the correct dosage instructions, distinguishing between items of clothing, or locating workstations and emergency exits in the office - these tasks are difficult or even impossible for people who are blind or visually impaired. That is why it is important to support them in their daily lives with an accessible solution.

With the help of a tactile NFC tag and the SenseTap app, users can identify selected items such as medications, clothing, and information boards using their smartphone. With a simple NFC scan, all stored information is automatically read aloud, enabling clear identification.

SenseTap stickers enable the unique identification of various objects with just one NFC scan. All stickers feature tactile recognition, can be attached to metal surfaces, and are available in three sizes.

The permanent stickers offer a durable hold, are dishwasher-safe, and are ideal for items that require lasting identification – such as storage containers, first-aid kits, electronic devices or information boards.

The removable stickers are ideal for items that require regular replacement, such as food or medication with expiration dates. They can be easily removed and reapplied, while their square shape provides a tactile distinction from the permanent stickers. Like the permanent version, they can also be applied to metal surfaces, are available in three sizes, and allow stored information to be read aloud automatically via NFC scan.

SenseTap laundry tags

SenseTap laundry tags enable the unique identification of textiles such as everyday clothing, sportswear, and workwear.

They are available in two versions: as sew-on or iron-on tags for items such as tops, trousers, dresses, underwear, or towels, or as a loop with a button closure for flexible attachment to garment labels or belt loops.

All laundry tags are machine washable and allow stored information to be read aloud automatically via NFC scan.

SenseTap is an accessible app for people who are blind or visually impaired. Using specially designed tactile NFC tags, users can uniquely identify everyday items such as clothing, medication, and information signs. The tags are assigned information about the corresponding item within the app When a tag is scanned with a smartphone, the app automatically reads the stored information aloud. Family members, friends, and colleagues can also use the app to help create and manage the tag information.

We would like to equip an item with a SenseTap tag so that all the information about it can be read aloud.

To do this, first scan the tag with your smartphone. The SenseTap app will open, allowing you to add a new tag and enter a description for the item.

Request help and describe the item

To add information to the tag, assistance can be requested directly through the app. A helper can then access the tag and enter the relevant information. In addition, the tag can be assigned to one of the predefined categories:

  • Clothing

Read Aloud and update information

To identify the item and access all relevant information, simply hold your smartphone near the SenseTap tag. All stored information will then be read aloud automatically at the selected speech rate.

However, the app is also available as a subscription service. For €5.90 per month, you can manage an unlimited number of tags.

No, to ensure consistent quality, SenseTap works exclusively with officially approved SenseTap tags.
In addition, SenseTap tags feature a high-quality partial raised spot UV coating, making them distinguishable by touch. Compared to other NFC tags, this makes them easy to identify by touch.
